Gynaecomastia

About
Gynaecomastia surgery, also known as ‘Male chest reduction’ is a procedure which aims to reduce excess breast tissue and to flatten the male chest. Men, like women, can have an abnormal growth of glandular breast tissue usually because of a hormone imbalance; this can lead to feelings of embarrassment and low self-esteem.
Procedure
Excess fat, glandular tissue and skin are removed through small incisions under the arm or around the nipple. The operation is performed under general anaesthetic and can take around 90 minutes to perform. The procedure is usually carried out as a day case although in some cases an overnight stay is required.
