Abdomioplasty surgery, also referred to as ‘tummy tuck surgery’ is a procedure in which excess skin and fat are removed in order to give a smoother and flatter appearance. Excess skin on the stomach is usually due to losing a large amount of weight or multiple pregnancies. This excess skin removal and tummy tightening can lead to a new found level of confidence and can allow you to feel a lot more comfortable with your body.
There are several types of tummy tuck. Your surgeon will advise on what is suitable for you as this will depend on how much skin and fat can be removed, you will also be given information of how your specific type of procedure will be performed. Abdominoplasty surgery is carried out under a general anaesthetic and usually takes between two and three hours to complete. Depending on the extent of the surgery, you may be released within a few hours or you may have to remain hospitalized for one or two days.
